Trent Lock
Two miles south of Long Eaton, Trent Lock is a very important waterway junction at the meeting of 3 counties where
the Soar flows in from Leicestershire opposite the Erewash Canal and the Trent & Mersey canal cuts westward towards Wales.
Of the navigation network that included the Derby, Nutbrook, Cromford and Nottingham
canals the only one left is the Erewash, with Trent Lock at its mouth - it's a colourful collection
of canal cottages, houseboats and boatyards, very popular with dinghy-sailors and all of a-bustle
in the summertime. (see also Sawley).
